Palomar
Display Products has designed and produced this high
resolution display for the USMC Expeditionary Fighting
Vehicle (EFV).
The
MIRVS TIS DU is part of an infrared vision targeting
sight. The sight collects and displays radiation corresponding
to wavelengths ranging from 3.5 to microns (µm)
in the IR spectral band. The information is processed
and displayed as a visible representation for the EFV
gunner. The MIRVS DU also displays reticles and vehicle
interfaces to aid in the operation of the EFV.
The
DU is the main electronic interface between the MIRVS
and the rest of the vehicle. Optical encoders control
the contrast, brightness, and reticles. Separate controls
are used for AGLE, ALC, and polarity. A high-resolution
CRT with integral biocular provides a projected gui
(graphic user interface). Software menus prompt for
advanced detection features and BIT.The EFV DU is seawater
submersible to a minimum of 1 meter.
